Over the course of three ‘train the trainers’ style workshops, participants will learn proven strategies that community organizers use to develop dynamic leaders and create sustainable communal garden programs. Participants will also be introduced to the range of communal garden projects that exist in our region and learn about starting and growing community gardens, tips to enhance communication, raise funds and make friends, asset mapping, conflict transformation, engaging garden members and other needs identified by the group. This training offers ways to engage with the power of local community members to have a positive impact on their own lives and the lives of their communities.
This training opportunity is free and open to anyone interested in growing sustainable communal gardening projects in our region. Cultivators will be asked to participate in periodic focus groups during the growing season. The purpose of the focus groups is to help Nourish evaluate the successes and challenges faced by the groups the cultivators are working with, discuss ideas for new workshops and training opportunities, and to assist with gathering data, such as the amount of food grown in local gardens, the number of participants/volunteers, and other relevant information.
Registration required. Please see the registration link below to submit your registration. For more information about this event, please contact Jill Bishop at 705-743-3526 ext. 115 or by email at growing@nourishproject.ca.
