Tea Biscuits

Description

So delicious warm from the oven with butter and honey!

Ingredients

2 cups
all purpose flour
4 teaspoons
baking powder
1 teaspoon
salt
1⁄2 cups
butter or margarine (cold)
3 cups
milk (or buttermilk) (cold)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 F.  Grease a baking sheet.

Combine the flour, baking powder and salt.  Cut in the butter or margarine until it has a fine crumb texture.

Stir in the milk with a fork to make a soft dough.  Knead 8 to 10 times, then roll out to the thickness of 1/2 inch.

Cut into rounds with a cookie or biscuit cutter.  Place on cookie sheet, and allow to rest for a few minutes.

Bake for 12 - 15 minutes.  Serve warm.

Notes

We made these tea biscuits with a gluten-free flour blend and they turned out great at our Volunteer Training series.
