Growing Food Justice and Equity

Nourish seeks to engage the whole community in talking about food, equity and ways we can rebuild our food system from the ground up.  Ultimately we want to see that everyone is able to purchase nutritious foods, while producers/farmers get a fair share for their work.  We are working to create food places in Peterborough City and County where everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to learn about how to grow food and how to cook simple and healthy meals.  We will also host regular table talks to highlight ways in which current policies benefit or hinder people's access to nutritious food and advocate for change, wherever needed.

We see these food places as harbingers of equity, community building as well as creativity and innovation.  We are interested in engaging social entrepreneurs who have new ideas about food, people like Brahm Ahmadi in Oakland, California, who is trying to transform the essential meaning of grocery stores.

Do you want to play a role in realizing this vision? To do all this work  however, we need your help.  Are you passionate about food?  Do you want to ensure that everyone in our community is able to purchase the nutritious food they need and want?  Are you a dedicated gardener, an avid cook, a policy-enthusiast, a food entrepreneur, a community developer with a strong enthusiasm for food?  If so, come and help us plant the seeds of this new food revolution.
